Enjoy a week of yoga, meditation and pranayama with Esther Ekhart. The primal landscapes, the vast starry sky and the penetrating silence are the perfect backdrop for you to reach deeper into your being and find true relaxation and peace.
The retreat takes place in the Negev desert, a secluded and quiet area in the “backyard” of Israel, where pioneering families have set up small communities, and with lots of love and care are developing the area.
The desert has a special energy that is hard to ignore. And with its bare landscape, free from distractions, it can help you connect deeper with your stillness and your true self. It’s not for nothing that the meaning of the word ‘Desert’ (“Midbar”) in Hebrew is “Speak” – and signifies a place where you can hear the universe speaking to you.
With this retreat, Esther wants to bring a message of peace and compassion to the community. We have reached out to a local foundation Sulha to join forces and organise a practice with both Israelis and Palestinians, to realise our shared humanity and reach peace beyond politics. Details to follow soon.
What to expect
Wake up to the mountain views and feel the fresh morning breeze as Esther guides you through different Pranayama and meditation exercises amidst the majestic cliffs. After a healthy Israeli breakfast, you will spend the morning in silence. You can reflect on your experience undisturbed while resting in your hammock or exploring the walking trails around the area.
Later in the morning we start moving again and use mindful (and sometimes challenging) asana practice to strengthen our body – physically, emotionally and mentally.
The afternoons are free for you to explore the surroundings; go for a walk, cool off by the pool, or rest in your beautiful cabin. As the sun starts to set and paints the surroundings in beautiful colours, we gather again for a calming evening practice, combining Yin yoga, Yoga Nidra and Restorative with mindful exercises.
